“Faith Not Fear”

Would you have ever believed that the United States of America would find itself filled with divisiveness, anger, vile rhetoric, mass disorder and a profusion of lies and alternate truths?  Where can we place the blame for this period of disorder?  Can we hit the pause button, the rewind button or the fast forward button in situations such as described in our daily newspapers and other news media?

What has changed the landscape in America to bring about these unbelievable events?  We have a new President who was sworn into office on Friday, January 20, 2017.  The President is making new appointments to critically important positions.  These appointments will have devastating and long lasting consequences if time, research, thorough vetting and investigations are not performed in thoughtful, intelligent, sensitive and fair manner.  Our lives are at stake.

Protests continue throughout this country.  Many in the news media, both here in the United States and around the world, have suggested that many things need to be firmed up, realigned,  renegotiated as well as re-thought.

What are our options when we find ourselves in a dilemma such as what we are experiencing today?  Are there options that we can choose to implement in order to save our cities, our nation and the world, from total annihilation?

My faith tradition teaches us to pray to God in times of trouble and in times of peace and then take action.  Let our displeasure, fear and frustration be made known in peaceful protests.  Then pray again.  Yes, pray for Pres. Donald Trump.  Yes, pray for the United States of America.  Yes, pray for the world.

People are fearful today….fearful for themselves and for their families.  Nevertheless, I truly believe God can and will turn this tide into Peace.

Scripture tells us “May the peace of God, which passes all understanding, keep your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.” (Phil. 4:7)

God’s peace be unto you, your family, our country and the entire world.
